OUR KEY EDUCATION PROJECT SCHOLARSHIP FOR KELYN

Hello friends!

We were introduced to KEY Education Project last year through our dear friend and founder of KEY, Su Chun. KEY stands for Knowledge Empowers You, and provides scholarships and leadership programs for higher education to students from low income families in Nicaragua, which allows their recipients to pursue their dreams, change their lives, and support their communities. We were so inspired by their dedication and commitment to these students who want nothing more than to have an education and have an opportunity to not only have a better life for themselves but also serve others.

Su shared with us Kelyn’s story and we felt compelled to help her. Kelyn (pictured), a medical student in Nicaragua was about to drop out of her 5th year as she no longer had the financial support she had been receiving from her grandparents. Kelyn’s grandparents were farmers, working to support her school fees and her family. Her grandmother sadly passed away in her 2nd year of medical school and her grandfather had a serious fall that required surgery in her 4th year. Her grandfather is now being looked after by Kelyn’s mother who stays home to care for him. Kelyn no longer has the financial means to complete her last year of school to become a Doctor and be of service to her community.

Kelyn was also one of the many students affected by the civil unrest in Nicaragua over the last year and now has to repeat her 5th year. She’s worked so hard to get to where she is and we couldn’t just let her give up her dream because of her financial situation.

We’ve personally committed to fund 50% of her tuition through our  business and would love support from our family and friends to help contribute to the remainder of her tuition.

With your support, we hope to raise the remainder of her tuition ($2000 CAD) to support Keyln’s final year of medical school!  KEY is a registered charity in Canada and the United States - tax receipts are available for donations from Canada and the U.S.  KEY gives every single dollar to the students - all administrative fees (e.g. banking, travel, etc.) are personally covered by the board of directors. We hope Kelyn’s story resonates with you as it did with us and we would be eternally grateful for any contribution to help Kelyn achieve her dream.

With so much love and gratitude,

Azma & Daniela
